Boost Your Coffee Skills with the Help of Our Pro Baristas
Expand your coffee knowledge and improve your espresso technique with an assist from Aldo Coffee Co.'s "Best Baristas in Pittsburgh" including Mid Atlantic Barista Competition finalists and USBC judges.
We offer coffee tasting classes and home barista classes for the coffee enthusiast; and professional classes for baristas, coffee bars, and restaurants who wish to improve coffee service revenues. We even offer Barista Competition Training.
Whatever your level of knowledge, increase your coffee/espresso appreciation and skill with us.
PUBLIC CLASSES:
Introductory Coffee Tasting: This 90-minute course is designed to let you experience multiple coffee growing regions and roasting styles so that you expand your palate, learn more about this important crop and find one or more coffees you truly enjoy. Our next "Coffee Tasting 101" tasting class is Saturday, June 5 at 2pm (please note, time may change due to our new commitment to Farmers@Firehouse on Saturday - we will note any schedule changes here shortly).
Coffee Cupping for Food Professionals and Foodies: This is a 2-hour advanced level class for people who are more versed in culinary science and technique. We'll talk about flavor profiles, seasonality, processing and roasting as a start, then have a "production cupping" of several coffees. The class ends with a comparison of brewing methodologies, including our "six-way" brewing demo. Our next advanced cupping class will be on Sunday, June 20 at 2pm. Barista Skills Espresso "101" for home baristas and new professionals. Course agenda includes coffee origins, tasting exercises, the dynamics of pulling great shots, milk texturing and an introduction to latte art. Cost: $100 for a 2.5 hour group session. PROFESSIONAL/TRADE CLASSES:
Culinary Espresso and Coffee for Restaurants: We offer espresso training and coffee consultation on-site with your restaurant's own equipment and coffee. We can also train on single-cup brewing methods for restaurants looking to enhance their coffee srevice (as noted in the Post-Gazette). Professional Barista Training: $150 per person for a three hour group session (class size 3 people maximum). Or, by private appointment, which is usually preferred for an independent shop. Great training on making quality coffee and espresso drinks for new stores. Prerequisite: Six months barista experience or our Barista Skills training class. Email us for more information
Barista Competition Training: Since 2006, Aldo Coffee has placed seven finalists in the MidAtlantic Barista Competition, winning once. We've also had four entrants into the USBC and have been both technical and sensory judges at several regional and national competitions. We can help you train with the rules and performance techniques in mind, including rehearsals with mock judging. Private training. Contact us for more information or to arrange a training date.
