Second Origin Brunch, Sunday, June 21

We're going to do our second "Origin Brunch" buffet on Sunday, June 21.  Cost will be $12 per person.

Celebrate Father's Day with a brunch spread unlike any in town! We'll be serving up foods from several  Central American countries from 10a-2p that Sunday.

The idea of the origin brunch is to further connect our coffees to the regions where they're grown by offering tastes of traditional dishes eaten by those who work picking and processing the beans that go into your daily cup of our Direct Trade coffee.

As we're going to be getting in a number of new Central American coffees in the coming weeks from Panama, Honduras and Costa Rica, the brunch theme will be Pan-Central America.  We're working on the menu now.

We had wanted to do one earlier this year with an Indonesian theme, but never did come across a menu we felt capable of delivering as a buffet.  At least with Central American, we're pretty comfortable with our skills.

    George's Coffee Connection was specialty coffee in New England for years. Then he sold out to the dark empire. Now he's back with Terroir, identifying and promoting single source coffees. No stores yet, only whole bean sales.
  • The Roasterie (Kansas City)
    Reginal powerhouse coffee buyer, roaster, trainer and local retail chain in KC, Missouri.
  • Ninth St. Espresso (NYC)
    King of espresso on Manhattan's Lower East Side.
  • Gimme! Coffee (Ithaca/NYC)
    Gimme! was among the first Eastern shops to rival the best in the PNW. Born in Ithaca, they're now in Brooklyn, Chelsea Market and LES.
  • Simon's (Boston)
    Cambridge, MA, used to be home to Jaime VanSchyndel, barista provocateur. Not sure if they're still what they were when Jaime was on bar, but it's likely still the best cup in Boston.
  • Caffe Artigiano (Vancouver, BC)
    Two time Canadian Barista Champ Sammy Piccolo and his roaster brother Vince have put Artigiano in the heads of espresso geeks worldwide. They cornered the market on 2005 Brazil CoE Santa Ines to ensure their proper place on the quality map.
