We hosted this ridiculous thing.
The idea was that the first Merry Baristmas would be the start of a tradition that would be picked up by other shops throughout the region with rotating hosts.
This year saw The Grind at the Union Project, a spring jam at Simpatico and monthly latte art throwdowns at Tazza d'Oro, which are great for the barista community in their own way. And Kiva Han will be hosting the Mid Atlantic Regional Barista Competition, which is a big deal for the region.
But despite that progress, we're disappointed that no other shop has yet stepped up for another insane holiday jam. It was a lot of fun getting the home baristas and pros together. Maybe next year.
Time flies. Sorry that planning wasn't in the works for a similar event, but maybe something can be planned prior to the Barista Competition. There's been change over the past year, loss of The Vault and now Phil leaving La Prima, but your perseverance to host last years event started a camaraderie that was lacking. And I believe we are all thankful for Aldo's taking the initiative. Cheers to all at Aldo's, and the best this holiday season.
