Love Coffee? Head for The Grind, This Afternoon at the Union Project

The_grind_2 If you enjoy coffee as a passion or profession, you'll enjoy this event.  The Grind is an even run by The Union Project and the Pittsburgh Area Coffee Association.  It's happening this afternoon, 12-3p at the Union Project, 801 N. Negley.

Belle will be leading cuppings of several Intellgentsia coffees, with John and Lauren assisting.  There will be espresso demos as well as latte art training.  Additionally, a raffle for some coffee-related items from sponsors and participants will be held.  The sponsors include Aldo Coffee, Enrico's Tazza d'Oro, La Prima, Starbucks and Beleza Community Coffeehouse.

Admission is only $5.  For $15 you also get a Union Project cup.  All proceeds go directly to the Union Project, which uses the monies to further promote job programs.

    George's Coffee Connection was specialty coffee in New England for years. Then he sold out to the dark empire. Now he's back with Terroir, identifying and promoting single source coffees. No stores yet, only whole bean sales.
  • The Roasterie (Kansas City)
    Reginal powerhouse coffee buyer, roaster, trainer and local retail chain in KC, Missouri.
  • Ninth St. Espresso (NYC)
    King of espresso on Manhattan's Lower East Side.

    Cambridge, MA, used to be home to Jaime VanSchyndel, barista provocateur. Not sure if they're still what they were when Jaime was on bar, but it's likely still the best cup in Boston.

    Two time Canadian Barista Champ Sammy Piccolo and his roaster brother Vince have put Artigiano in the heads of espresso geeks worldwide. They cornered the market on 2005 Brazil CoE Santa Ines to ensure their proper place on the quality map.
