Sad News: The Vault Closes
UPDATE: The owners of The Vault say they are looking for a new staff and plan to reopen as soon as they've found enough baristas to make a second go at it.
One of our favorite local coffee haunts is no more (or maybe not, see above update). We learned that the crew at The Vault Coffee & Tea Bar in Brighton Heights packed in it on Saturday, May 10. Brad (a.k.a. "The Clown Prince of Coffee") and partner in crime Drew stopped by this afternoon to break the news.
The closing will be a loss to the Brighton Heights neighborhood as well as to espresso lovers who appreciated a dose of dry humor from the grey-tunicked foursome of geeks who tended bar.
We've promised that if no one else picks up the mantle, we will host their traditional "Johnny Cash" day on September 12. We also hope to talk Brad and Drew into guesting behind bar before they find themselves new gigs. If you're reading this and need one or two ace baristas, you won't find better in these parts than Brad and Drew.
Worst news EVER. Who will dare rate Pittsburgh's home baristas now?
Man, I am bummed.

How sad - to see a coffeehouse in Brighton Heights looked so promissing.
