Next week we're introducing several breakfast ideas to see what folks like. We've been coasting with the pastries for a couple of years now. Not that you'll see sfogliatelle or Mediterra bagels go away, but maybe we'll be putting out a few less cinnamon twists and chocolate croissant.
Although we sell a lot of baked stuff, we think there's opportunity for some healthier breakfast options. So for at least the next week (perhaps longer), we're going to be experimenting with different breakfast options each morning. Could be a warm cereal, something with egg, possibly even pancakes or breakfast panini. And we might throw in a churros with hot chocolate special just because we love that combo.
Best of all, until we've established a routine, we're going to offer whatever new thing we're making for $1.00. Whatever that may be (but only the specials get special pricing, pastries and bagels remain priced as is).
Those of you who've stopped by the last couple of days may have already tried a personal frittata or some steel-cut oats with fruit. Not bad, eh? We'll be repeating those in the next few days.
So please humor us while we look for some options we can do well repeatedly (and teach the staff how to make it so we don't have to get up at the crack of dawn!).
Btw, Rich is still working on those vegan muffins. He is not accepting that one must "settle" for something less than mouthwatering delicious in a vegan muffin. He's intent on trying to find the right recipe for a vegan muffin that even the most carnivorous Pittsburgher would choose over a muffin made with real butter and eggs because of the taste, not the health benefits.
