Happy New Year - We'll Be Here to Help You Clear Your Head

Capodanno5thumb We'll be open regular hours New Year's Eve  (6:30am-6:00pm) and we'll be open New Year's Day from 7:30am-6:00pm.  We'll be back to regular hours the rest of the week.

We'll be serving panini on both Monday and Wednesday, but not on New Year's Day itself (Tuesday).

Instead of panini, we'll be serving two soups on New Year's Day - a traditional Italian swisschard and lentil New Year's soup and Rich's favored hangover cure-all - Senegalese peanut stew

Of course there will be plenty of coffee as well.

We wish you a happy and healthy New Year's Eve celebration and the best of luck, love and friendship in 2008.

Where's All the Coffee?

For those who were in the shop last night - and those coming in this morning - you're in for a rare sight:   There's virtually no retail coffee for sale.

We have one 12oz bag of New Guinea and two half pounds of Rwanda Kanzu left until this afternoon's shipment arrives.  That's it.  Even though we essentially doubled our orders the past couple of weeks.  You guys bought everything - and we thank you very much!

We'll be receiving Colombia Tres Santos as well Black Cat and French Roast later today.  We also have a bit of Celebration Blend behind the counter that we can custom bag for you.

Happy Boxing Day

Among other stuff that found it's way under our tree were these kitchen-related items:
- Navy blue Crocs
- Navy blue Kangol knit cap
- Double-breasted chef's coat (to look spiffier for catering gigs)
- Bowl Food (Laurel Glen)
- Soup - A Way of Life (Barbara Kafka)
- Ratatouille DVD
- a three-foot long wooden spoon (alas we have no three-foot deep drawers...)

All that, plus a lot of family eating a lot of food and drinking a lot of wine.

We hope your Christmas was as pleasurable.  And we hope you're having a happy Boxing Day.

The Twelve Songs of Christmas: #1

And we come to Number One.

Celebrate today with the bestest Christmas song ever:  Roy Wood's Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday.

Unfortunately (and inexplicably) we never hear the original version in the US. And no, Slade did not make our cut.

The Twelve Songs of Christmas: #2

Nobody does it better.  Nat King Cole - The Christmas Song.

Don't Even Think About Trying This Here

Chris forwarded us this link from The Consumerist on what one enterprising soul ordered with his Starbucks free drink coupon.

As Chris noted, it'll make your head hurt.  But the leftovers apparently make a tasty frozen dessert.

The Twelve Songs of Christmas: #3

When he first sung it, we needed it.  Still do, apparently. John Lennon:  Happy Christmas (War Is Over)(And why would anyone thinking of covering this song possibly think they could do it better?)

The Twelve Songs of Christmas: #4

This was simply the coolest music project ever when it was done 23 years ago.  It's still cool today.

Band Aid:  Do They Know It's Christmas?

Now Hanging From Our Store Tree

Latte_art_ornament Cappuccino_art_ornament A latte with a rosette and a capp with a heart.  Latte art has made it to the world of ornaments.  We got these last night during our annual Christmas party ornament swap.
