Rich will be doing a demo of the Aerobie Aeropress
this Saturday at 3pm.
The compact size and durability (it's been virtually indestructible for us) of the Aeropress make it an excellent gift choice for coffee lover in your circle, especially coffee lovers who travel (more on that below).
The Aeropress is also a great choice for someone who loves espresso but can't justify $1,200 for a decent home espresso machine. The Aeropress brew is concentrated at about the same levels of espresso - 10.5 grams per ounce of water - and it even creates a coffee puck and with practice, a little bit of crema.
All of the above also makes the Aeropress a thoughtful gift for the college kids in your family.
While we typically use a Technivorm Moccamaster or press pot at home, the Aeropress is always in our bag when we travel (along with fresh coffee) because as we all know hotel coffee is awful. The water is never hot enough and who knows how long that envelope of pre-ground dust has been sitting there. We use the hotel coffeemaker to heat up water then use the Aeropress to brew since it works best with water at ~175F (which is about as hot as hotel coffeemakers ever get). Works like a charm.
Again, the demo is at 3pm Saturday. No need to buy anything (although we've got them in stock for less than you'd pay ordering online and paying the shipping). And you get a free cup of coffee brewed on the Aeropress.
