# of Years in Pittsburgh area: 29
Best thing about being an Aldo Coffee barista: The people and the coffee, of course.
Favorite coffee or tea drink: Straight espresso for coffee, Darjeeling for tea.
Favorite thing to do in the South Hills: Shopping at Market District.
Best reason to go into Pittsburgh: Strip District, PNC Park, Heinz Field.
Hidden talent: My hair is curly enough where I can grow an Afro if given time.
The thing people would be most surprised to learn about me: Went to Italy in 2002 and did not go to a single coffeebar! Only cappuccinos were at hotels and trattoria.
Aldo notes: We first met John at the Specialty Coffee Association Conference in Charlotte in 2006. He was in the stands watching the United States Barista Championship. He had traveled to Charlotte on his own dime specifically to view the competition. At the time he was a shift manager at Starbucks in the Waterfront. We kept in touch. Good thing we did.

A talented barista is always a great asset at any successful establishment.
