Aldo Coffee Now Included in Curriculum

Just came across this - seems Mike Sansone, a copywriter from Des Moines, has a seminar on blogs he's been doing and we're part of the presentation (see section on Blogs or Brochures).

Wonder if we can get royalties for that?  More important, wonder what he's saying about us?  Hmmm...

Great Question.

There are several reasons to love this site. Being Sicilian and a lifelong Steelers & Pirates are not the reasons I talk about this site though.

What I love is that it's a conversation rather than a sales piece. When I visit the site, I can smell the aroma of coffee beans and panini.

By the way, Congrats to Belle, Good Luck to Cara, and how's Steve doing since he left? I'm sure he's missed there.

Gotta love blogging... how else would we have ever heard of each other?

Thanks for the kind comments and for the exposure in Des Moines... I don't know how many Iowans vacation in Pittsburgh (although I'd guess you could count that on one hand), but at least they'll know where to get coffee when they're in town.

Cara left for New Orleans this morning - her husband is working for FEMA on the reconstruction, so they only see each other once a month.

Belle is back from the honeymoon and her husband is going to do start doing some spot duty for us on weekends.

Steve has text messaged a couple of times from Paris to say hello. He and Lauren are doing well.

I'm beginning to think we could make this into another Lake Woebegon...

  • Peets (Berkeley/SF)
    Alfred Peet is often called "the grandfather of the specialty coffee industry". Started in 1966, Peets continues to have a loyal following, despite tons of regional competition.
  • George Howell's Terroir (Boston)
    George's Coffee Connection was specialty coffee in New England for years. Then he sold out to the dark empire. Now he's back with Terroir, identifying and promoting single source coffees. No stores yet, only whole bean sales.
  • The Roasterie (Kansas City)
    Reginal powerhouse coffee buyer, roaster, trainer and local retail chain in KC, Missouri.
  • Ninth St. Espresso (NYC)
    King of espresso on Manhattan's Lower East Side.
  • Gimme! Coffee (Ithaca/NYC)
    Gimme! was among the first Eastern shops to rival the best in the PNW. Born in Ithaca, they're now in Brooklyn, Chelsea Market and LES.

    Cambridge, MA, used to be home to Jaime VanSchyndel, barista provocateur. Not sure if they're still what they were when Jaime was on bar, but it's likely still the best cup in Boston.

    Ask for Gabe or Baca. Lines usually out the door. For good reason.

    Hotlanta's cool kids of coffee, led by M'lissa. Great skills, great training, great coffee.
  • Alterra (Milwaukee)
    One of our favorite macchiatos was served here. Scott and Justin rock. The espresso stands up to milk like few others.

    One of the largest and best macroroasters in the Pacific Northwest. Numerous barista champions worked on bar for Zoka.
