On Sunday, Cara was practicing her artwork in the store and in the process of trying to pour a heart, she wound up with something that she says looks like the Virgin Mary. Several customers who saw the work agreed (or at least humored her).
According to Cara, the photo clearly shows a halo and an arm that could be said to be in a praying position.
Too bad that unlike the recently heralded Virgin Mary grilled cheese sandwich, we could not save this work for posterity. Latte art is made for relatively quick consumption.
We're not ones to mock religious symbolism, however, after looking at it for awhile, it looks to us more like a guiana bird... or maybe a quail.
At any rate, Cara practiced a bit more and came up with some actual hearts.
Just about everyone on staff is now up to speed on being able to do rosettas or hearts (although there are still some "abstracts" from time to time.
Andi is now looking at photos from barista competitions and trying to match their designs, and she's getting extremely proficient at doing so,
judging by this morning's work of art which features not only a tight rosetta, but also flecks of cocoa for embellishment.
Lois is quickly catching up to Andi, giving our weekday morning crew bragging rights for artwork at the moment.
By the way, it DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A GUIANA BIRD OR A QUAIL!!!
